How to make Vanilla skies body shimmer oil

Body Shimmer Oils
Body shimmer oils have been taking the beauty world by storm, captivating the attention of makeup enthusiasts and skincare aficionados alike. These enchanting elixirs add a touch of luster to your skin, bestowing a radiant glow that transcends the ordinary. Crafted with a blend of nourishing oils and light-reflecting micas, body shimmer oils have skyrocketed in popularity due to their transformative and captivating effects.
So, what exactly are body shimmer oils? These oils consist of a lightweight base, typically infused with a variety of natural oils such as argan oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil, or grapeseed oil. These nourishing oils help to moisturize and soften the skin while infusing it with a healthy, luminous sheen.
What sets body shimmer oils apart from traditional body lotions or creams is the inclusion of mica.
Body shimmer oils offer an instant mood booster, elevating your confidence and leaving you feeling like a radiant goddess.
One drawback that these products share is their price so why not learn to make body shimmer at home?

Today I want to share a beautiful Body Shimmer Oil formulation to make your skin glow.

The base of the formulation is a lightweight, fast-absorbing, emollient Caprylic Capric Glycerides. This ingredient is perfect for the type of product we are making today.

I also included luxurious Argan oil and moisturizing Bakuri oil to add an extra boost of skin-loving properties to the shimmering body oil. This part is very customizable, and please feel free to use your favorite carrier oils.

The key ingredient in this formulation is Silica. It’s a very fine, light powder that thickens oils and creates a kind of oil gel texture. Moreover, it reduces greasiness and oiliness and adds a luxurious, light, powdery touch to the formulation.

Monoi de Tahiti Fragrance oil is perfect for this summery delight product, but you can use your fragrance or essential oil of choice or even leave the body oil unscented.

There are hundreds of different kinds of mica out there, and you can create so many variations of color and hue. I made two versions of the Body Shimmer Oil.
The first one was shared with my Patreon subscribers, and it has this lovely golden color and the second one, which I am sharing today has a light, vanilla color, which is lovely too.

Now, let’s take a look at the formula!

Vanilla Skies body shimmer oil

A 78.00% Caprylic / capric triglycerides

A 10.00% Argan Oil (or an oil of your choice)

A 5.00% Babassu Oil (or an oil of your choice)

A 1.50% Monoi de Tahiti FO (or fragrance oil of your choice)

B 3.00% Silica

C 2.50% MICA POWDER - VANILLA ICE CREAM (or a mica of your choice)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Combine the oil ingredients in a beaker. Stir to combine.

  2. Add silica and stir very well. Make sure you break all those little clumps.

  3. Add mica and stir again. Wait about 24 hours before packaging to make sure the Silica % is enough to suspend your mica. Mica articles have different sizes and if your mica is a bit heavier than the one that I used you might need a bit more Silica to hold all of that mica. If you notice a separation add 0.3-0.5g Silica to your body shimmer and stir well. Evaluate and repeat the process if needed.

  4. Once you’re sure that your product is stable you can package and enjoy!

P.S I started with 2% Silica and I had to add more, 3% was perfect for me.

Feel free to play around with different ingredients and actives. Have fun!
