Warm and Cozy Body Butter

What is body butter or in this case emulsified body butter?
Emulsified Body butter is a very thick, luxurious cream with high amounts of natural butters and oils.
Anhydrous Body Butter is a body moisturizer containing only water-free ingredients like oils, butters, fragrance or essential oils, and oil-soluble extracts. They tend to be greasy and heavier than emulsified body butters.

Since our skin usually gets dry and dehydrated in the colder time of the year, I decided to make a batch of this beautiful, nourishing, and hydrating body butter as a gift for my friends and family.

If you ever wanted to make a body butter or tried and you didn't like it please try out this formula and you won't be disappointed!

It features silky Mango Butter, warm, chocolate Cocoa Butter, and unrefined organic Hemp Oil that bring moisture and suppleness to the skin. Naturally, you can use other butters in this formulation. Both common and rare butters will be beneficial to the skin and bring something new and exciting to this luxurious jar of wonder so feel free to make substitutions.

The final product is incredibly moisturizing, absorbs fast, leaves your skin hydrated, and nourishes for hours without being greasy, sticky, or heavy.

The light green color comes from unrefined Hemp Seed Oil so if you choose a lighter oil then your body butter will have a lighter, creamier color.

EMULSIFIER

Montanov 68 (Vegetal) - INCI Cetearyl Alcohol (and) Cetearyl Glucoside - is a natural, easy-to-work-with emulsifier used in a variety of cosmetic products.

It can emulsify not only oils and butters but also silicones. Montanov 68 creates products with lighter textures than for example Emulsifying Wax NF or Polawax. This emulsifying system tends to make products with less soaping effect than Olivem 1000.

Usage Rate: 3-8%

Lamecreme -  INCI: Glyceryl Stearate, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate

It is also an emulsifier but in our formula, this ingredient is used to give a body to the formula, thicken and stabilize it without being too greasy or heavy on the skin.
If you can not find this blend you can buy Glyceryl Stearate and Glyceryl Stearate Citrate separately and use 1.75% each.

If you can not find these ingredients in your could try Cetyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, and Stearic Acid to thicken up the oil phase of this body butter.

Batch Size: 500g. However I recommend starting with smaller batches to see how you like this formula.

1. Combine the B phase. It creates a Glycerine +Xanthan Gum slurry. This process eliminates the "fish eye" in the water phase and ensures proper Xanthan Gum dispersion without clumps. Xanthan gum also thickens our water phase by creating a gel.

2.Add water to the B phase.

3.. Weigh the C phase in a separate beaker. It's our oils, butters, emulsifier, and thickeners.

4. Place both beakers (heat-resistant bowls) in a double boiler and heat to 75C.

5. Add the water phase to the oil phase (or vice versa) and stick blend for 1-2 minutes.

6.Hand stir for 1-2 minutes and let the emulsion cool down to 40C.

7. Add the cool-down phase ingredients and stick blend for 1 minute or less. Your butter will thicken as it cools.

8. The product reaches its final consistency in 24 hours.

I made 5 small 100ml jars of this butter and paired it with my scrubs for my friends as Christmas presents and they loved them!
