How to make a watermelon-yum body scrub

Watermelon is my favorite summer fruit (I think it's actually a berry, but who cares lol).

That's why I have been putting Watermelon Margarita fragrance oil in everything lately, and I have no regrets.

Today I would like to share one of my absolute favorite summer formulations, and that is this Watermelon Yum Sugar Scrub.

This scrub is not only deliciously scented but also super easy to make and very gentle on your skin. It has a soft and stretchy texture that feels like watermelon flesh, and it exfoliates and moisturizes your skin with natural ingredients. Plus, it looks so cute in a jar!

Formula Overview

The main ingredient in this scrub is glycerin, which is a humectant that attracts and retains moisture in your skin. Glycerin also gives the scrub its smooth and pliable consistency.
Olivem 2020 is an emulsifier that helps blend the oil and fragrance with the glycerin base. Watermelon seed oil is a light and nourishing oil that adds some extra hydration and antioxidants to your skin. You can skip it if you don't have it, but I think it adds a nice touch.
Watermelon Margarita fragrance oil has a sweet and refreshing scent that makes this scrub smell like a tropical cocktail.
Poppy seeds and sugar are exfoliants that gently buff away dead skin cells and leave your skin soft and smooth.

@daisywarren949 The yummy watermelon scrub looks good enough to eat! It's such a treat for your skin. Stay tuned for the full tutorial and recipe over at daisysbeautyjewels.net blog #gelscrub #scrub #betterthantreehut ♬ Originalton - Milan Shefer

You can customize this scrub by changing the colors, and fragrance, or adding some fruit powders for extra benefits. For example, you can make a dragon fruit scrub by using a white glycerin base, pink mica, and poppy seeds. Or you can make a berry scrub by adding some cranberry, blackberry, or raspberry powder to the glycerin base.

The formula is very simple and only requires five ingredients, plus some optional colorants. Here is how to make it:

watermelon-yum body scrub

A 80.15% Glycerin

A 0.85% Olivem 2020

B 2.00% Watermelon Seed Oil (optional)

B 1.00% Watermelon Margarita Fragrance Oil

C 1.00% Poppy Seeds

C 15.00% Sugar

Instructions:

  1. Combine the A-phase ingredients.

  2. Add the B and C phases and stir everything together.

  3. Cover with foil and let hydrate overnight. Stir once in a while to make sure Olivem 2020 hydrates properly.

  4. Once your scrub can hold all the sugar without separating, you can package it and enjoy a nice summer treat for your skin.

☝️Note: initially your sugar will set at the bottom of the jar, but you only need to stir it a couple of times every 6-8 hours or leave it alone for 24 hours and give it a good stir. Olivem 2020 needs some time to fully hydrate and create a stable gel with Glycerine.

How to use it:

- Scoop out some scrub with your fingers or a spatula and apply it to your wet skin.

- Massage gently in circular motions to exfoliate your skin.

- Rinse off with warm water and pat dry with a towel.

- Follow up with your favorite moisturizer if needed.

I also like to add that you can create a beautiful Aqua Splash Scrub based on the same formula by simply switching out your colors and exfoliants.
