Pecan Pie Bath Truffles with Cocoa Butter and Cupuacu Butter

There's nothing better for a bath bomb maker than a box of fragrance oils waiting on the porch. And yesterday was that YAY-day for me and I couldn't have been happier! I liked all of those fragrance oils but this Pecan Pie deliciousness just grabbed by heart and nose and didn't let them go until I made something with this fragrance oil.

So I decided to make something delicious for the skin and that's how this recipe was born. I shared a bath truffle recipe on the blog a couple of weeks ago and I decided to play with my formulation a little bit to make it even more luxurious.

I decided to add colloidal oatmeal and aloe vera powder and chamomile extract for their healing and soothing properties. I also included cupuacu butter and cocoa butter in this bath treat recipe because of their super moisturizing and nourishing skin benefits.

RECIPE (for a 500g batch)

175g Baking Soda

172g Citric Acid

10g Kaolin Clay

15g Milk Powder

15g Coconut Milk Powder (you can substitute for the regular Milk Powder or Buttermilk Powder or Goats Milk Powder)

5g Colloidal Oatmeal

5g Aloe Vera Powder (optional)

50g Cocoa Butter

30g Cupuacu Butter

10g Macadamia oil

20g Polysorbate 80

2.5g oil-soluble chamomile extract (you can use a different extract or add more oil in the place of an extract)

10g Fragrance oil (I used Pecan Pie Fragrance oil from Mystic Moments)

10g Natrasorb Powder (optional - it helps to anchor the scent)

Optional - mica or lake colorant; sugar sprinkles, coffee beans for decoration

INSTRUCTIONS

Melt your butters in a double boiler until they're completely melted through.

2. Sift your dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

3. Mix your fragrance oil with Natrasorb Bath powder and incorporate the paste into your dry mix.

4. If you want to add mica or lake colorant you can add it now.

5. Add macadamia oil, chamomile extract, and Polysorbate 80 to your melted butters, mix well and combine with the rest of the mixture.

6. Your mixture is going to look like cookie dough. Now you have a few options on how to shape your bath truffles:

-silicone molds

-ice cream scoop

-hand shaping

7. Place your truffles in a cold place like to set up. Once they are completely hard unmold and decorate. I made a cocoa butter drizzle with some mica and it looked lovely on these bath truffles.
